Miller, Chief Executive Officer Tony
Miller, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Miller
has an MBA from Cornell University's Johnson Graduate School of
Management and an MS in kinesiology from the University of Illinois
at Champaign-Urbana. Steve Smerz, Team Lead, Information Systems Mr. Smerz joined the Definity Health team in July, 2002. He brings over 20 years of experience in the information systems industry including management experience with Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railways and H.B. Fuller Company. He has successfully led numerous technology initiatives during his tenure as a strategic information systems consultant. Most recently Mr. Smerz was the Chief Information Officer of Stratyc, an application service provider to the manufacturing industry. Mr. Smerz
attended the University of Minnesota majoring in aerospace engineering
and computer sciences. Craig Swanson, Team Lead, Strategy & Development Mr. Swanson, a cofounder of Definity Health, has worked extensively in the delivery and payer sectors of the healthcare industry. Previously with Deloitte Consulting, he provided strategic consulting to large healthcare and telecommunications companies. A focus of his work was preparing those industries for fundamental changes due to the evolving role of the Internet. Prior experience included investment banking, commercial banking and commercial real estate. Mr. Swanson
has an MBA in finance from the University of Minnesota Carlson School
of Management. Tomás Valdivia, MD, MS, Chief Medical Officer/Chief Medical Information Officer Prior to joining Definity Health in March 2000, Dr. Valdivia was medical director of Informatics, for Ingenix, where he led and assisted in various research and development initiatives in the areas of physician profiling, medical management and predictive modeling. A board-certified internist, he previously served as the assistant department head of general internal medicine for HealthPartners, Inc., Minneapolis, and associate residency program director for the University of Minnesota. Dr. Valdivia
holds a master's degree in health informatics from the University
of Minnesota where he is assistant professor of medicine. Other
areas of professional interest include the study of human error
and medical literature retrieval and management. Sara Evans, Team Lead, Human Resources Ms. Evans joined Definity Health in May 2000. With over a decade of human resources experience, Ms. Evans previously served as the global human resources generalist for Cargill where she was responsible for human resources strategies including global compensation and resource and succession planning. She has also held a variety of human resources generalist roles within Cargill and for other local Minnesota companies. She has significant experience in human resources issues including selection, retention and employee relations. Ms. Evans holds a BA in management/human resources from the University
of Northern Iowa and a PHR designation from the Society of Human
Resources Management. Kyle Rolfing, Team Lead, Sales, Service and Marketing Mr. Rolfing, a co-founder of Definity Health has more than 14 years of business development and related experience in the healthcare industry. Previously, Mr. Rolfing served as Vice President of National Accounts and Manager of Health Services for Aetna. In addition to business development with large employers, his responsibilities included oversight of provider network and utilization management. Mr. Rolfing is also the former head of Business Development for the Minneapolis Office of Hewitt Associates. In that role, he worked with Fortune 500 companies on a range of human resource issues, including ealthcare strategy, health plan design and negotiation. Mr. Rolfing has an MBA
in strategic management from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of M
anagement. He also has a certified employee benefits specialist designation
from the Wharton School of Business. Randy Schmidt, CFO/Team Lead, Finance Mr. Schmidt joined Definity Health in March 2003. He brings over 13 years of experience of financial management in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Definity Health, Mr. Schmidt served as chief financial officer at eBenX, a health and welfare benefits company, where he was responsible for all financial, legal and business development activities, including mergers and acquisitions. Before joining eBenX in 1998, Randy served for two years as chief financial officer at PRO Behavioral Health in Denver, Colorado, where he oversaw a 300% turnaround in company earnings and cash position during a period of over 100% revenue growth. Prior to that, in over eight years at Prudential Healthcare he served in various senior management positions such as regional controller, director of network operations and senior underwriter. Mr. Schmidt holds a B.S. in Accounting from Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota and a CPA certificate in the State of Minnesota. |
