In April 2000, Definity Health launched a groundbreaking health benefit. The company has received 64 million through two rounds of investor funding. Definity Health's well-known investors share our belief that change is needed and that providing a better healthcare experience is essential.



Alta Partners. Alta Partners, founded in February 1996, is a venture capital partnership investing in information technologies and life sciences companies. Our partnership combines capital and experience with exceptional entrepreneurial talent to achieve investing success. Alta is a successor to Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co. (BEDCO), a premier venture capital firm established in 1979. During its almost twenty years of existence, BEDCO invested more than $700 million in over 200 companies in the U.S. and overseas.

Brightstone Capital. Brightstone Capital was formed in 1985 as a venture capital investment management company and since inception, has managed ten venture funds and invested in over 90 Minnesota businesses. Brightstone Capital leverages its many relationships with established industry contacts, financial investment partners and academic research institutions to help entrepreneurs build successful companies. Many of these companies continue to generate jobs and income for the local economy as well as provide above average returns for the limited partners of the various Brightstone funds.

Merrill Lynch Ventures. Merrill Lynch Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., is the General Partner and Investment Advisor to limited partnerships formed exclusively for investment by employees of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates. To date, Merrill Lynch Ventures has served as the General Partner and Investment Advisor for nine partnerships. The partnerships seek minority interest positions, primarily, in privately offered equity investments in both US and non-U.S. issuers. Investments may include securities issued in conjunction with leveraged buyouts, financing of companies in an early stage of development, investments in growth equities, real estate ventures, and transactions involving financial restructuring or reorganization.

Psilos. Founded in 1998, Psilos is a private venture capital firm specializing in investments in early-stage to pre-IPO healthcare services, digital media and Internet companies, and especially companies at the intersection of these dynamic industries. The firm applies the significant entrepreneurial, operating and investment experience of its principals, advisory board members and strategic partners to help its portfolio companies establish themselves in the market and build their long-term growth potential.
